You Are Enough: Breaking Free from the Imposter Mindset

Have you ever felt like you don’t deserve the success you have? Do you feel like it was a lucky break? If so, you have imposter syndrome.

What is imposter syndrome?

Imposter syndrome is a psychological pattern where individuals doubt their talents, skills, or accomplishments. The fear is they will be exposed. At the same time, this fraud-ian behavior doesn’t discriminate. High achievers, entrepreneurs, creatives, and spiritual people are affected because of high self-set standards and a need to be perfect.

Why does imposter syndrome happen?

Several factors contribute to imposter syndrome:

  • Past experiences: Environments with high expectations or little recognition can lead to doubt.

  • Perfectionism: Pressure from society and social media can be the catalyst for imposter syndrome.

  • New challengers: When starting new things, sometimes you feel like you don’t belong in that space.

  • Systemic issues: Societal barriers and discrimination can lead some to experience imposter syndrome.

The spiritual side of imposter syndrome

Imposter syndrome could be a sign of spiritual growth. It comes up when you are on your passion and purpose path. That “fraud” feeling could be your ego trying to protect you from stepping into your higher calling.

How do you get over imposter syndrome?

Getting over imposter syndrome can be accomplished by challenging your thoughts. “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7. Your thoughts chart your reality. Embrace imperfection, you are not perfect and that’s okay. You are a perfect imperfection, so embrace it. Trust your journey. The journey is yours only, walk it with pride no matter where it takes you. Seek support, you were never meant to live this life alone, and everyone needs somebody. Create a strong support system, for guidance, inspiration, and laughter. Spiritual practices, whether you pray to God, attend church or hug trees. Find something that is calming. It will help to balance the mind, body, and soul.

Your journey will not look like the journey of others. That’s okay. Stay the course and believe in yourself.

The world needs the gifts you bring.
